The national debt has gone up and down at times. A percentage around 60 percent or lower is considered viable.
We’ve gone well above this percentage in periods of major wars such as World War II. Unfortunately, we are now well
above it as purely a matter of bad economic decisions, decisions we can’t really honor. This is why fiscal reform
is desperately needed.
